“This past week I was blessed with another opportunity to spread my youth leadership message to students abroad. I visited North Carolina schools Mendenhall Middle School, Charlotte Lab, McDougle Middle School, Cabaruss Charter Academy, Wiley Middle School, & East Lake Academy for a total of 18 presentations. I had interactive discussions with students on anti-bullying, being kind, unity, diversity, inclusion, the power of words, finding one's purpose, leadership and more! I also talked about the important role that hip hop played in helping me find my purpose and passion in life.”

"This was my first visit to all of these schools except one (Wiley Middle School in 2016). I enjoyed the process of quickly building enough of the relationship with the students and the staff to earn their trust prior to beginning my performance and lecture. I generally try to arrive at each school 20-30 minutes early so I can have time to speak to the administration before hand. I always have a game plan going into each school on what I want to speak about but I like for the staff to give me some informational on current social issues their students may be having. I take that added context and infuse it into my presentation to make it more relevant and impactful to the students. I also like being in the performance space as the students come in. I introduce myself, joke around, and talk to students as they enter the gym or auditorium so that I can build a little report before my lecture. I presented to over 3,000 students and the ages ranged from K-12. I did my best to package each presentation to fit the specific age demo of each school I visited. The trip had it's ups and downs. The feedback from each school was great, but I also learned how I can be better at what I do. I always enjoy the process of fine tuning my presentations so that I can make the biggest impact with each student I encounter!"
