Words from director, Devine Carama - Our monthly Sons of Single Mothers Mentoring Day was scheduled to enter it's 5th year in March of 2020 until the COVID-19 global pandemic put things on hold! Finally, with safety measures in place, we were able to reconvene in June. 14 mentors and I were blessed to be able to spend time with 25 central Kentucky boys to celebrate Juneteenth & Father's Day Weekend. We started the day with a light breakfast, meet & greet, Juneteenth lesson and jump time at Lexington's most popular trampoline park, Sky Zone! In years passed, we've struggled getting enough mentors to come out and engage the boys. Due to lack of engagement we took a year off. I researched and worked on better ways, as a director, to be a better leader myself and galvanize men in the community to serve on a regular basis. It seems to have worked as we garnered our largest participation of mentors since the program started back in 2015!
